গত পরশু শিলিগুড়ির কলেজ পাড়ায় জাতি বিদ্বেষমূলক মন্তব্যকে ঘিরে উত্তেজনার সৃষ্টি হয়। অভিযোগ, বহিরাগত একদল ব্যক্তি দুই মহিলার উপর শারীরিক হামলা চালায়। স্থানীয় কাউন্সিলর তাদের বাধা দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করলেও, হামলাকারীরা থামেনি। একজন মহিলার নাক ফেটে যায় বলে জানা গেছে। এরপর ওই অভিযুক্তরা রাস্তায় নেমে “গোর্খাল্যান্ড চাই” স্লোগান দিতে থাকে।

এই ঘটনার পরপরই বিভিন্ন সংবাদপোর্টালে খবরটি প্রকাশ পেতে থাকে। কিন্তু বাংলাপক্ষের দাবি, সেই খবরগুলোর কমেন্ট সেকশন জাতি বিদ্বেষী মন্তব্যে উপচে পড়ে। বাঙালিদের উদ্দেশ্যে অশালীন, অবমাননাকর ও হিংসাত্মক ভাষা ব্যবহার করা হয়।

আজ (৭ আগস্ট) বাংলাপক্ষ – শিলিগুড়ি ইউনিট একাধিক স্ক্রিনশট, মন্তব্যকারীদের প্রোফাইল লিঙ্ক ও ছবি সহ শিলিগুড়ি থানায় লিখিত অভিযোগ দায়ের করেছে। সংগঠনের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, “যেভাবে দুই বাঙালি মহিলার বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগে পুলিশ ব্যবস্থা নিয়েছে, সেভাবেই যেন তাদের জমা দেওয়া তথ্যপ্রমাণের ভিত্তিতে বিদ্বেষ ছড়ানোদের বিরুদ্ধেও আইনানুগ পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করা হয়।”

বাংলা পক্ষ জানিয়েছে তারা কয়েকদিন অপেক্ষা করবে প্রশাসনিক পদক্ষেপের জন্য। তবে নিরুত্তর থাকলে তারা রাস্তায় নামার হুঁশিয়ারি দিয়েছে।

সংগঠন শিলিগুড়ির সাধারণ মানুষদের কাছে আবেদন জানিয়েছে – “এই অন্যায়ের বিরুদ্ধে তাদের পাশে থাকার। তারা বাংলায় বাঙালির নিরাপত্তা চায়।”

ঘটনায় উত্তাল হয়ে উঠেছে শিলিগুড়ি ও সংলগ্ন এলাকা। প্রশাসনের পরবর্তী পদক্ষেপের দিকে তাকিয়ে রাজ্যবাসী।

Bengali women assaulted in Siliguri, Bangla Pokkho files counter legal complaint.

Tension erupted in Siliguri’s College Para area two days ago following a reported incident involving a racially charged comment. According to local sources, a group of outsiders physically assaulted two Bengali women. Despite efforts by the local councillor to intervene, the attackers did not stop. One of the women reportedly suffered a fractured nose. Following the assault, the accused individuals allegedly took to the streets shouting "Pro-Gorkhaland" slogans.

The incident quickly spread across various news portals. However, Bangla Pokkho alleges that the comment sections of these reports were flooded with hate speech and racially derogatory remarks targeting Bengalis.

Today (7th August), the Siliguri unit of Bangla Pokkho submitted a formal complaint at Siliguri Police Station, attaching screenshots, Facebook profile links, and photos of individuals responsible for the offensive comments. The organization has demanded that, just as legal action was taken against the two Bengali women based on a complaint, similar legal steps must be taken against those inciting hatred with verified evidence.

Bangla Pokkho has stated that they will wait a few days to see whether any action is taken. If the authorities remain unresponsive, the organization has warned of public demonstrations.

They have also appealed to the people of Siliguri to stand in solidarity with them, asserting their demand for safety and dignity for Bengalis in Bengal.

The incident has sparked unrest in Siliguri and surrounding areas. Citizens across the state are now closely watching the administration’s next move.
